What to do in Sitges

Sitges, where boring becomes impossible

Sitges' fun and cultural offer is very extensive and comprises activities and entertainment for all wishes and along each year season. The long Sitges events and festivities programme is only an example of what visitants spending and enjoying their holidays will find.

In summer, sea related activities are the leading offer at this town located at the Golden Coast of Spain. You can find one of the best seaside promenades of the spanish coast in Sitges, from where you can see lots of good-quality beaches as you walk along, that let bathers enjoy the Mediterranean sea. Among lots of activities, there are small motorboats, small sailing boats, canoes and pedal boats available to rent; you can also windsurf, practice water skiing, parachute over the Sitges sea front or just go for a swim into the sea's warm water. Moreover, there are 3 marinas (Port Ginesta, Garraf and Port d'Aiguadolē) from where you can enjoy bigger boats.

For those who prefer ecological tourism, the Garraf Natural Park lets you – with almost 2500 acres – loose yourself along its leafy forests or its rocky and deserted mountains in any year season, or even contemplate the highest view of this Catalan coast fraction. Hiking, go potholing, climbing or just walking or riding either a mountain bike or a horse, it’s possible as long as you take care and respect nature.

Regarding leasure infrastructures, Sitges, as a cosmopolitan town, is perfectly equipped. It has at tourists disposal cinemas, theatres, a bowling alley, a sports hall, football fields, tennis courts, swimming pools (either indoors or outdoors), cybercafes and internet on-line centres, a
golf course , etc. Moreover, Universal Port Aventura amusement park is located few miles far from Sitges.

As far for gastronomy, there are countless restaurants in Sitges to enjoy great meals, making a special mention to the Punta Golf Restaurant, probably the one enjoying the best location in Sitges and where you can have a good time tasting Sitges traditional
gastronomy and Mediterranean cuisine in general, enjoying a pleasant view to the sea meanwhile. It organizes dinners with music performances ("Punta Golf Nights") in June and August, a very successful event in the summer nights.

As it is for the nightlife, Sitges is just unsurpassable. The very famous Calle del Pecado (Street of Sin) is the neuralgic centre (not the only one, however) of long nights of fun and party in the summer season, with lots of bars, pubs and discos that make Sitges enviable at night.

Sitges (colloquial and formerly known as "La Blanca Subur") was, not so long ago, a little fishing town before turning into a favourite tourist destination for thousands of Spaniards and Europeans. In that sense, there are lots of people that, attracted to the sea richness, take a chance with a fishing rod and a fish hook from one of the nice rock breakwaters that separate one beach from another in front of the seaside promenade, or from any rocky place facing the sea next to the town centre. It's also possible to practice sea and underwater fishing from any of the three marinas named above.

Sitges cultural offer is also very extensive itself, boasting very well-known museums of great quality, temporary exhibitions, theatre performances, music and film festivals, and so on. Santiago Rusińol, one of the great artists and writers of the Catalan modernism lived in Sitges. Thanks to the ease in communications with
Barcelona, it's advisable to enjoy the great variety of museums and cultural activities that the Catalan capital offers to their visitants as well.
